Privacy Policy

How information is used when you play WoordVonk, with details for players, parents and guardians.

Last updated:

The short version

  • You do not need a game account to play. Your game is saved on your device and, when iCloud sync is enabled and available, in your private iCloud storage.
  • Use a nickname. Nearby players can see it when you open a multiplayer arena.
  • Ads use technical information about your device and the ads you see. We apply Google's child advertising settings to every player.
  • Apple handles purchases. Ad-free removes automatic ads between levels; optional extra-letter rewards still use ads.
  • You or a parent can contact privacy@userface.nl with a privacy question.

Who is responsible

Murat Ozmerd develops and publishes WoordVonk as an individual developer, using the name Userface. That person is responsible for the processing described here that they determine. In this policy, “the developer”, “we” and “us” refer to that person. You can contact the developer about this policy or a privacy request using these details:

  • Operator: Murat Ozmerd, individual developer
  • Brand name: Userface
  • Email: privacy@userface.nl
  • Postal address: Janusbaulingstraat 63, 7415 NC Deventer, The Netherlands
  • Telephone: +31 6 13 02 64 66

Your game and device

You can play without creating an account. The app stores your chosen player name, avatar, progress, scores, collected cards, stars, challenge results, current games, rewarded-letter history and preferences on your device. This allows you to continue playing and keeps game rewards consistent. You can use a nickname.

The developer does not operate a server that receives your player profile, puzzle guesses or saved progress. The app does not include a separate analytics service operated by the developer. Advertising and App Store services have their own data processing, described below.

iCloud progress sync

iCloud sync is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings → iCloud → Sync progress. When your device is signed in to iCloud and sync is enabled, Apple CloudKit stores a copy of your game save in your account's private database. This includes your chosen name, avatar, progress, cards, stars, challenge results, saved games and their guesses, reward history and game preferences. The app uses an app-specific iCloud account identifier locally to keep saves separate when you change accounts. This information is not sent to AdMob.

Sync connects your progress on devices using the same iCloud account. It runs in the main menu; offline play continues using the local save and retries syncing later. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not delete an existing iCloud copy. Apple's processing is described in iCloud & Privacy.

Where motion effects are used, device movement is processed on the device to animate the scenery. The game does not upload this motion data. Local network access is used for nearby multiplayer.

Nearby multiplayer

Opening an arena advertises your chosen player name and, in Card Duel, your selected avatar to nearby players who can discover the arena. The arena also announces technical compatibility information. A connected duel exchanges player identities, submitted words, moves and match state directly between the participating devices so both players can play the same match.

Match connections require encryption. Arena discovery information is visible before a match connects; choose a nickname you are comfortable showing to nearby players. The developer does not store multiplayer traffic on a game server. Duel results may be retained in the local game save.

Advertising and privacy choices

WoordVonk uses Google AdMob for between-level ads and optional ads that reveal an extra letter. Google and its advertising partners may process IP addresses and approximate location, device/app identifiers, ad views and interactions, and diagnostic/performance data for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. See Google's SDK disclosure.

The app disables Google's publisher ad personalization setting and publisher first-party ID. This does not eliminate advertising data processing. It does not request App Tracking Transparency permission. The developer does not attach your chosen name, avatar or puzzle guesses to ad requests. See how Google uses information from partner apps.

Google's privacy tools receive an under-age-of-consent flag for every player. These tools determine whether any privacy message or options are available; they do not obtain parental permission. Where available, use Settings → Ad privacy to review choices. Refusing an optional advertising purpose does not prevent playing the game. Ad availability and type may differ according to privacy restrictions and region.

The Ad-free purchase removes automatic between-level ads. Optional extra-letter rewards still require an ad, so the purchase does not disable all advertising services.

Purchases

Apple processes in-app purchases. The app reads verified purchase information, including the product and entitlement status, to provide and restore Ad-free. It does not receive your full payment-card information. Apple's handling of purchase and account information is explained in App Store & Privacy.

Contacting us and purposes

If you email the developer, we receive the address, message and any attachments you send and use them to answer your request. Please do not send unnecessary sensitive information. Your email provider and our email service handle message delivery and storage.

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, processing necessary to deliver requested gameplay, purchases and support is based on providing that service; optional processing that requires consent is based on your consent. We rely on legitimate interests for proportionate security, fraud prevention and handling enquiries, and on legal obligations where retention or disclosure is required. We do not use game results to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Retention and international processing

Local game data remains on your device until removed. Deleting the app and its data removes its local save; offloading an app can retain it. Device backups may retain copies and can restore them. Manage those backups separately through your device or backup provider. The developer cannot remotely retrieve or delete a save held only on your device.

Deleting the app does not automatically delete its private iCloud save. You can manage the app's iCloud data in your device's iCloud storage settings. Turn off game sync on your devices before deleting cloud data if you do not want a local save uploaded again. Local copies for previously used iCloud accounts remain on the device until the app's data is removed.

Support correspondence is kept for as long as necessary to resolve the enquiry and handle related obligations or disputes. Google and Apple set retention periods for data they process under their policies; deleting WoordVonk does not automatically delete their records or your emails.

Google and Apple may process data outside your country. Their privacy policies explain locations, safeguards and available transfer mechanisms: Google Privacy Policy and Apple Privacy Policy.

Your rights and complaints

Depending on the law applicable to you, you may have rights to information, access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or an opt-out from specified advertising uses. Contact privacy@userface.nl to make a request or complaint. We may ask for information necessary to verify and locate a request. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

WoordVonk's audience includes children under 13. We do not ask for a date of birth. All ad requests use Google's child age treatment and the General ad-content rating, including requests for optional extra-letter rewards. This setting restricts advertising processing; it does not mean no technical data is processed. See Google's age-treatment documentation.

Use a nickname rather than a child's full name, especially when opening a nearby arena. Parents or guardians can use the contact details above to ask to review or delete personal information the developer holds about their child, or to refuse further collection or use of that information. Tell us which information or interaction your request concerns; do not send a child's identity documents unless a suitable verification method has been agreed with us. We may need to verify your authority to make the request. Saves stored only on a device must be managed on that device. For information independently held by Google or Apple, their linked policies explain their request procedures; you can also contact us for help identifying the relevant service. The game does not provide a parental-consent verification service.

Changes

We will update this policy when relevant features or data practices change and show the revision date. Where required, we will provide further notice or request a new privacy choice.
